Check Tires When Cold
Check inflation with a reliable gauge when tires have been parked for several hours. Use the pressure on your vehicle's driver-door placard, not the tire sidewall's maximum pressure.

TIRE MAINTENANCE BASICS
A few regular checks can help you spot potential problems early. Always follow the tire and vehicle manufacturer's guidance for your specific Kia.
Check inflation with a reliable gauge when tires have been parked for several hours. Use the pressure on your vehicle's driver-door placard, not the tire sidewall's maximum pressure.
Inspect tread wear indicators and measure tread depth. Tires at 2/32 inch of remaining tread are worn out in many U.S. jurisdictions; wet-weather traction may decline before that point.
Follow your owner's manual and tire manufacturer's rotation schedule. Rotation patterns depend on drivetrain, tire size and whether the tires are directional.
Wear on one edge, steering pull or a crooked steering wheel can indicate an alignment or suspension concern worth inspecting.
Check for cuts, sidewall bulges, embedded objects and cracking. A bulge or exposed cords can mean the tire is unsafe to drive on.
Air pressure changes with ambient temperature. Recheck pressure when the weather shifts and before longer trips through North Carolina.
Some tire issues are easy to notice, while others require a closer look. Avoid guessing at the cause if handling or tire condition changes suddenly.
Pull over somewhere safe if a tire rapidly loses pressure, you hear a sudden blowout, or the vehicle becomes difficult to control. A tire with a visible sidewall bulge, exposed cords or significant damage should be evaluated before driving.
Use roadside assistance when the vehicle cannot be operated safely.
Request a Tire InspectionAt least once a month and before longer drives is a useful general habit. Check when the tires are cold and use the pressure listed on your vehicle's tire placard.
Rotation timing varies by model, tire type and driving conditions. Follow your Kia maintenance schedule and tire manufacturer's instructions rather than relying on one interval for every vehicle.
Check your tires promptly in a safe location. If a tire is visibly low or damaged, avoid driving on it. Refer to your owner's manual for the meaning of the warning.
Not necessarily. The tire's condition and remaining tread determine whether replacement is needed, but uneven wear also warrants checking the underlying cause.
